Denver Churches and Businesses Hold 28th Annual Thanksgiving Outreach

Corporate Sponsor Integrity Fencing Encourages Donations and Volunteers

Denver, Colo. Those experiencing homelessness in Denver can come together for a community-wide event in honor of the Thanksgiving holiday and receive help in several different ways. The City and County of Denver reached out to familiar previous outreach organizer, David Clifton Ministries, encouraging them to host a Thanksgiving donation event again. While the event could not be held during the pandemic, this return marks its 28th year.

According to the Metro Denver Homeless Initiative, the number of people who became homeless in metro Denver for the first time sharply rose to 3,996 people in 2023 from 2,634 in 2022, a 51.7% increase. In general, in the seven-county metro Denver area, there was a 31.7% increase in homelessness in 2023, compared with the survey’s findings in 2022.

On Saturday, November 11, from 12:00pm to 4:00pm, at the Denver City Hall building adjacent to Civic Center Park, volunteers from local churches and businesses will be giving out food boxes, clothing items, and even providing haircuts and a bike repair station. Denver City Hall is located at 1437 Bannock Street, Denver, 80204.

Integrity Fencing & Supply Company, an Englewood-based fencing and decking contractor, is a corporate sponsor of the event. Owner Shawn Beard is the external church coordinator for the event and is pulling in other churches to help, making this truly a community event. In addition, staff from Integrity Fencing will be volunteering during the event. “We want to come together collectively to help serve and support the homeless population,” said Shawn. “We have over 400 turkeys and we are looking forward to feeding many people!”

In the past, attendance at this event numbered around 2,000 people. This year, that number could double. Shawn and the other volunteers encourage monetary donations to help ensure there are enough goods to provide to those in need. People can also volunteer their time that day.

If you are interested in making a tax-deductible donation, contact David Clifton Ministries.
