Fence Staining

Benefits of Fence Staining

Your yard and exterior are the first thing people see when visiting your home. Good paint, lush landscaping and quality fencing are three ways to make your house look its best. Whether you have a new fence, or a fence that could use a lift, the professionals at Integrity Fencing are here to help you with quality fence staining and fence restoration. Benefits of fence staining include:

  • Improve curb appeal
  • Protect your investment
  • Add life to your fence
  • Protection from water, UV and the elements
  • Save money by revitalizing instead of replacing

While no fence lasts forever, especially here in Colorado, you can add up to 3 years to the life of your fence each time you maintain it with a quality stain applied by professionals – it’s that important to stain your fence!

Frequently Asked Questions

Why choose Integrity Fencing for my fence staining project?

Integrity Fencing has been trained and certified by Wood Defender in application of their products. We’ve stained hundreds of fences in the metro area. You can be confident you will get an outstanding, lasting result from our team.

Do I need to stain my fence?

Staining your fence is highly recommended within 30 days of installation. A quality fence stain will increase the life of your fence by up to 3 years when applied by professionals. Staining reduces expansion and contraction that contributes to wear over time.

Is my fence a good candidate for restoration and staining?

If your fence pickets are intact, and all your posts are sturdy, your fence is probably a good candidate for stain. If your fence is gray, it must first be cleaned by our professionals. See the FAQ about gray fences. If you have more than a couple broken posts, it’s likely time to consider replacing your fence.

My fence has turned gray. Can it still be stained?

Wood fences turn gray over time due to a surface layer of mold and mildew growth. In this case we must first carefully clean and sanitize the fence prior to applying stain. This will restore the appearance of your wood. We then allow the fence to dry for 24-48 hours and apply stain like we would to a new fence.

Should I pressure wash my fence?

In general, we do not recommend homeowners pressure wash their wood fences. It’s too easy to permanently damage the surface of your wood. Once the surface has been damaged, no amount of stain will cover it.

Do your stains contain insecticide?

We do not use stain that contains insecticide. However, the oil-based formula of our stains is known to deter insects.

What kinds of wood fencing can be stained?

We regularly stain cedar, pressure-treated pine, redwood and cypress fences.

Do you apply sealer or polyurethane after staining wood fences?

It is best to not apply any additional products after our team stains your fence. We use a stain and sealer in one. Applying any additional products can make it impossible for our team to apply maintenance coats to your fence down the road.

Will you stain my fence if someone else built it?

We stain fences built by homeowners and other companies. Our team will inspect your fence, regardless of who installed it, and ensure we can provide a good result.

What is your warranty?

Integrity Fencing Co. offers a two-year warranty on transparent stain and a threeyear warranty on semi-transparent stain.

How much will staining my fence cost?

How much is it?! This is naturally the first question that comes to mind when considering a fence staining project. There are many variables that influence the cost of a stain project, including: fence construction; fence style; fence condition; and height and length of the fence. For example a 5-year-old, previously stained, six-foot privacy fence is going to take more time to stain than a new, unstained rustic split rail fence.

There’s no one size fits all solution, that’s why we offer free estimates for fence staining projects. Our team will visit, inspect and measure your fence so we can provide an accurate estimate – it’s frequently more affordable than you might expect!

Step Two: Neutralize & Restore
If necessary, our fence staining team will remove old stain, mildew and bacteria by bleaching your fence back to bare wood.

Step Three: Staining & Sealing
We use a state of the art product called Wood Defender. It’s a self-leveling, penetrating wood stain available in a wide array of semi-transparent and solid colors.

Step Four: Drying
We recommend allowing your freshly stained fence at least 48 hours of drying time before running sprinklers.

Step Five: Sprinkler Audit
One of the best things you can do to keep your fence stain looking new is to make sure water from popup sprinklers isn’t hitting the fence. No amount of stain can protect against constant horizontal water over the long haul.
