Fallen tree on fence
Fallen tree on fence in Highlands Ranch, CO

On June 22, 2023 something quite unusual happened in Highlands Ranch, Colorado. A destructive thunderstorm brought torrential rain, hail, and lightning to the Denver Metro area and foothills, but in Highlands Ranch, a tornado was added to the chaos. The storm and resulting tornado did so much damage that the City of Highlands Ranch set up a dedicated webpage with resources for homeowners. One of the resources available to residents is curbside tree debris pickup. Many large trees were uprooted during the storm and the sheer size and quantity of the trees downed is a burden on homeowners.

Another burden on Highlands Ranch homeowners is downed or damaged fences and gates. Even if a fence withstands tornado-driven winds, fallen trees take out a fence easily. Highlands Ranch is home to around 107,000 individuals, many of whom live within Homeowners Associations (HOAs). One of the benefits of living in an HOA is the quality and consistent fencing surrounding a neighborhood and individual homes. A downed fence isn’t just a hassle, it can be dangerous. Fences and gates keep children and pets in, and intruders out. There’s no doubt that many Highlands Ranch fences will need to be repaired or replaced in the coming months.
